What Is a Cover Up Tattoo?
A cover-up tattoo is a new design created to conceal an existing one. Instead of erasing old ink, a skilled artist works with it using the existing shapes, shading, and darkness as the foundation for something entirely new. Done well, the original tattoo disappears into the new piece, and no one would ever know it was there.

Cover-Up vs. Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser removal is slow, costly, and often painful – usually requiring many sessions over a year or more, with no guarantee of a clean result. A well-designed cover-up can deliver a finished, wearable piece in far less time and turn the tattoo you regret into one you’re proud of.
In some cases, a few laser fading sessions can help with a cover-up (for very dark or dense work), but for most tattoos, Kamil can rework the existing ink directly. He’ll tell you honestly during the consultation which path offers the best outcome for your specific tattoo.

Most tattoos can be covered – even dark, dense, or previously botched work that other artists turn away. The right approach depends on the size, age, and darkness of the existing tattoo, which Kamil assesses at consultation. In rare cases he may recommend a few laser fading sessions first to get the best possible result.
Usually a cover-up is somewhat larger or darker than the original so the old ink can be fully absorbed into the new design. How much larger depends on the existing tattoo. Kamil designs each piece to conceal the old work while still looking intentional and balanced.
For most people a cover-up is faster, less painful, and less expensive than full laser removal, and it leaves you with a finished piece of art instead of blank skin. Laser removal can take many sessions over a year or more. Kamil will advise honestly whether a direct cover-up or some laser fading first is best for your tattoo.
A cover-up feels similar to any other tattoo in the same area, since pain depends mostly on placement rather than whether it’s a cover-up. Sessions may be longer because cover-ups often require more detail and saturation. Kamil works to keep the process as comfortable as possible.
